Amid the hoopla and the controversy of the Republican National Convention, this week, credit union trade groups were busy making connections and tackling a volunteer project.

On Wednesday, in Cleveland, CUNA, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and Real Clear Politics opened a horticulture therapy suite at Angie's Rooftop Garden at UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Janna Ryan, the wife of House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) cut the ribbon with the young patients and their siblings. They were joined by members of the Ohio Credit Union League.

CUNA traditionally tackles a leave-behind project at the national conventions. Later in the day CUNA and Real Clear Politics held a forum on the middle class and its voters.
