Firefly Credit Union has proved how easy shredding pounds can be when there's teamwork.

The credit union partnered with Shred Right, Green Lights Recycling, Inc., and the Better Business Bureau to host Secure Your ID Day, a community shred event.

Sensitive documents were shredded on-site and electronic items were securely recycled during the semi-annual event, which has been a way to help locals protect themselves against identity theft while also having a positive impact on the environment.

The next community shred event is slated for fall.
