During the month of March, Firefly Credit Union employees did their part to help keep the Minnesota FoodShare stocked by collecting more than 2,500 pounds of food and donating $4,269.13.

“It is unbelievable to think that our employees have donated more than four tons of food to such a great cause over the past four years alone,” Bill Raker, president/CEO Firefly CU said. “I am always astounded by their generosity and interest in supporting our community.”

According to Minnesota FoodShare, its March campaign provided more than half the food distributed by 300 food shelves throughout the state. The annual campaign has existed for more than 30 years with each dollar donated going directly to Minnesota food shelves.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, throughout the 2015 fiscal year, more than 496,000 Minnesota residents received regular federal food assistance.

During March, Firefly CU hosted several internal fundraisers from a silent auction and a Walking Taco Lunch, to Casual for a Cause Fridays and a Cram-the-Cubicle event.
