The American Association of Credit Union Leagues announced Wednesday that Brad Miller was appointed as its new executive director.

He replaced Susan Newton, who has served as AACUL's executive director since 1997.

Miller holds 25 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry.

He most recently served as president/CEO of Palmetto Cooperative Services, a Columbia, S.C.-based CUSO, and was the former president/CEO of Southeast Corporate Federal Credit Union, which merged in 2012 with the $6.1 billion Corporate One Federal Credit Union in Columbus, Ohio. He also worked as executive director of the Association of Corporate Credit Unions and vice president of corporate relations for CUNA.

“Interdependence between CUNA and the leagues remains critical to the continued success of the movement, and AACUL will play a central role in further strengthening those ties,” Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO and ex-officio member of the AACUL board, said in a prepared statement. “Brad's experience demonstrates that he can effectively lead the organization's continued efforts in this regard.”

Miller, who starts his new job on April 18, will also serve on Nussle's leadership team with dual reporting responsibilities to the AACUL board and Nussle.

“I have a strong passion for serving this industry, particularly in the areas of advocacy and member relationships,” Miller said in a prepared statement. “I've had the privilege of working with credit union leaders nationwide, including many league CEOs and staff, as well as management and staff at CUNA and other system organizations. I look forward to building on those relationships as AACUL's executive director to further shape and advance the credit union movement.”
