The $1.6 billion Elevations Credit Union in Boulder, Colo., promoted Steven Schmidle to the newly created role of chief strategy and performance officer. He will now be responsible for the development, implementation and achievement of the organization's strategic plan as well as all financial activities of the credit union. Schmidle joined the Elevations team 11 years ago and most recently served as senior vice president of finance.
The $1.2 billion LBS Financial Credit Union in Long Beach, Calif., hired Jeff Niedenthal as senior vice president of member services. Niedenthal will oversee several departments within LBS Financial and will be responsible for LBS Financial's payment systems, electronic delivery channels, branches and call center. He brings more than 20 years of financial industry experience to the position.
The $1.3 billion Whitefish Credit Union in Whitefish, Mont., has named new department vice presidents. Jennifer Archer was promoted to vice president of credit administration. The Northwest Montana native began working with Whitefish in 2005. Since then, she's helped the loan department grow its portfolio through direct oversight into the formation of processes and the credit administration department. Allison Deaver was promoted to vice president of human resources. Deaver previously served as the credit union's human resources manager, overseeing recruitment, benefits and training. Brett Merkel was promoted to controller vice president. He will now oversee accounting functions and coordinate enterprise risk management and vendor management processes. He was previously employed as the credit union's controller. Barb Pearson was promoted to mortgage loan supervisor vice president. Before taking over the position, she spent 30 years as the credit union's real estate loan officer, helping members receive loans custom-tailored to their individual needs.
SOUTH
The $1.7 billion ORNL Federal Credit Union in Oak Ridge, Tenn., appointed Chris Boler as president of its CUSO, CU Community, LLC. Boler replaced Larry Jackson, who is relocating to St. Louis, Mo. Boler has been an employee of ORNL since 2010 and has served in numerous roles.
The $9.2 billion Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, Texas hired two employees. Janet Ann Parcenue was hired as manager of commercial credit underwriting. Parcenue is now responsible for monitoring commercial loan policies, procedures and compliance, maintaining service levels of support for commercial loan production, best practice monitoring and strategic planning.
Robb Reger was hired as a commercial loan officer. Reger is now responsible for sourcing, negotiating and originating commercial loans. He brings more than 16 years of commercial finance experience to the position.
The $25 million Compass Financial Federal Credit Union in Medley, Fla., hired Lourdes Soegaard as vice president of compliance and special projects. Soegaard has more than 20 years of experience in banking and credit unions.
The $2.7 billon Texas Dow Employees Credit Union in Lake Jackson, Texas appointed David Sikora as advisory director to its board of directors. His appointment is effective as of 2015 and includes a two-year term. David Sikora joined TDECU's advisory board in 2015 and serves on both the strategic initiatives and audit/ERM committees.
MIDWEST
The $1.7 billion Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis., hired Jeff Labs as organizational alignment and development manager at its corporate center. He's now responsible for leading the organizational development team, which includes driving collaboration across the organization, and developing and maintaining careers, individuals, leadership, contingency and succession planning.
Matthew L. Lahman was named president/CEO of the $163 million KALSEE Credit Union in Kalamazoo, Mich., following the retirement of current President/CEO Rudy T. Callen on April 1, 2016. Lahman has served as COO at KALSEE since 2010. Prior to joining KALSEE, he was vice president of lending at the $675 million Consumers Credit Union in Kalamazoo.
