A co-op tour, provided courtesy of SPIRE Credit Union, has been a hit in Minnesota.

The $825 million credit union based in Falcon Heights, Minn. hosted the Youth Leadership Board from the Minnesota Cooperative Education Foundation. The group visited cooperatives throughout the Twin Cities, including Land O'Lakes, The Wedge and CHS.

"It was so rewarding to work this group of next-generation leaders," said Bridget Petersen, market vice president of community outreach for SPIRE. "SPIRE has a long-standing commitment to give young people the education and tools they need to flourish in life."

The young leaders learned first hand about the inner workings of a financial cooperative and how SPIRE makes a difference in the local communities served.

"I had the opportunity to learn about credit unions and everything they do for their community here in the Metro area," said Shania Landsinger, 19 year-old student of Winona State University. "We were also fortunate to go on a tour of the co-op and see ARCHIE."

Archie, a 1952 Ford work truck, is a SPIRE mascot, representing its commitment to hard work and Midwestern values.
