CUNA marked the 20th Anniversary of raising funds nationally to benefit the Children's Miracle network in a big way during its Governmental Affairs Conference.
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle presented Joe Dearborn, senior director of Credit Unions for Kids, with a check made out to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for $150 Million.
The generous donations, raised a dollar at a time, go to the respective credit union's local CMN Hospital and help support life-saving research, new facilities, equipment, patient services, and health education programs benefitting 10 million children annually.
John Schneider, best known as co-founder of Children's Miracle Network and role as Bo Duke in Dukes of Hazard, sent a special video message as an introduction to the presentation, thanking credit unions for their support. He noted that while he's appreciative of the funds, he's not surprised since helping communities, especially the underserved, is “in credit unions' DNA.”
“Your commitment over the past 20 years has had an unimaginable impact on families across this country and for that we are forever grateful,” Schneider said.
