In 2015, MAX Credit Union made a commitment to greater community involvement – one hour at a time.
Some 200 MAX team members logged more than 1,800 hours volunteering their time to improve and make a difference in the communities served.
"I think it is important to invest in the community because it is where we live, work, and play," Ariana Butler, business intelligence analyst and 2015 top volunteer for the $1 billion credit union based in Montgomery, Ala, said. "If we don't help take care of our community, who will? Throughout my volunteerism efforts, I have been exposed to various backgrounds and have made many new friends, all while spreading the word of what MAX really stands for. Volunteerism helps set us apart from being just a financial institution; it shows we have a human side and are here for our community in more than one way."

From building fences through Habitat for Humanity to delivering meals to seniors through MACOA's Meals on Wheels Program, almost fifty organizations benefitted from the MAX team's efforts.
As a small non-profit, MACOA Senior Services Director Pam Goodwin said volunteers have helped ensure services continue to be provided to its seniors. In May of 2015, MAX made the commitment to become a MACCOA corporate route partner, delivering food to seniors in need.
"We now know that MAX employees will deliver this route every Thursday, which frees our staff up to cover other routes that are not covered. We will never be able to thank them enough for what they do for us or our seniors," Goodwin said.
Plans are underway to continue greater volunteerism throughout MAX in 2016.
"I am thrilled to see MAX team members invest in the community," Greg McClellan, MAX president/CEO said. "Our employees continually found a way to go above and beyond to impact the communities MAX serves, and I am excited to see the momentum continue to grow."
