To mark its 10th anniversary, Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Affinity Federal Credit Union, has provided a $10,000 grant to New Jersey Community Capital.

NJCC is a nonprofit community development financial institution that provides innovative financing and technical assistance to foster the creation of quality homes, educational facilities, and employment opportunities in underserved communities of New Jersey.

“Research shows that counseled homebuyers achieve greater success in maintaining home ownership, as well as significant reductions in costly late payments, delinquencies and defaults when compared directly to non-counseled homeowners. Our goal at both the Foundation and Affinity is to make successful home ownership available to more New Jersey families. Financial education and credit counseling are the first steps,” Foundation Executive Director Dr. Lauretta A. Farrell said.

The donation will provide the seed money to create a special financial education and credit counseling program specifically for low to moderate income families seeking home ownership.
