Belvoir Federal Credit Union employees took a moment this holiday season to plan a day of remembrance as part of the annual Wreaths Across America event.
Staffers honored those who served our country by laying wreaths on soldiers' final resting place at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Va. and Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Belvoir Federal employees were among the 70,000 volunteers who gave tribute at Arlington National Cemetery. Some 241,000 wreaths were placed at the graves of fallen soldiers.
Seven employees and family members joined 300 members of the community at Quantico National Cemetery where approximately 5,000 wreaths were laid on headstones.
“What a great way to honor those who served our country and sacrificed so much. It is moments like this that exemplify how proud I am to be a part of an amazing organization,” Sharon Leake, installation liaison/membership development officer at Belvoir Federal said.
Similar wreath laying ceremonies were held across the nation in nearly 1,100 cemeteries, totaling more than 900,000 wreaths being placed for fallen soldiers.
