Daniel Young joined Credit Union Times as Washington reporter on Nov. 16.

Young will cover trade organizations, as well as credit union legislation and regulation. He previously worked for SNL Financial as a Washington-based reporter covering credit unions and banks.

“We're pleased to have Daniel on board, especially given his background covering credit union issues,” CU Times Executive Editor Heather Anderson said.

A native of Georgia, Young attended Valdosta State University and graduated with honors, earning an English degree with a focus in journalism. While at VSU, he served as photo editor and opinions editor for the Spectator, the student-run newspaper. He was also editor-in-chief for On Tap, VSU's student magazine. Additionally, he worked as a producer, anchor and writer for VSU's daily newscast.

Prior to embarking on his journalism career, he served as an IT project manager for more than 15 years. When he's not chasing leads, he can be found writing short stories, blogging or creating his own line of greeting cards.
