Credit unions, particularly in the east, made numerous new hire and promotion announcements this week. Plus, The Members Group, New Jersey Credit Union League and NASCUS made staff changes or elected board members.
EAST
The $86 million, Hunt Valley, Md.-based Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union hired Jodi L. Beal as Vice President of Finance. Beal has more than 23 years of accounting and finance experience and most recently spent 10 years as vice president/COO for Fairmount Bank until its recent acquisition by Hamilton Bancorp. Prior to that, she served seven years as vice president/CFO for The Bank of Delmarva and six years in public accounting with the TGM Group.

The $218 million Holy Rosary Credit Union in Rochester, N.H. hired Lisa Rodman as vice president of lending. Rodman has more than 25 years of experience in banking and lending. Her career has included working for credit unions and banks in Missouri, Virginia and North Carolina, as well as a two-year professional stint in Spain.
The $470 million Quincy Credit Union in Quincy, Mass. hired Evens J. (E.J.) Louis (pictured at left) as its new business development coordinator. Louis has worked with the credit union for five years in various capacities, including as a call center representative, loan administrative assistant and member service representative. In May 2016, he will graduate from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass. with a bachelor of science in management and minor in public relations.
The $1.2 billion, Lowell, Mass.-based Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union hired of Richard Denio (pictured below) as vice president, operations. Denio has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry plus extensive experience in operations management. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration/management and economics from Fitchburg State College as well as a certification as a project management professional from Boston University.
Margaret Delmonico, director of public relations for the $2.3 billion, Harrisburg, Penn.-based PSECU, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the group Eye Candy Family at the 2015 Women's Conference on Oct. 24. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a woman who "displays long-term business success, strong community involvement, and demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment." Delmonico has served PSECU for almost 37 years, overseeing community relations and sponsorships, media relations, financial literacy, scholarships and corporate social responsibility.
Kelsey Bistline, a member service representative for the $163 million, York, Pa.-based First Capital Federal Credit Union, was selected as the York Chapter of Credit Unions' 2016 Youth Ambassador. As the winner, Bistline will move on to represent the York Chapter of Credit Unions in the 40th Youth Ambassador of Pennsylvania Contest in May 2016. She began working for First Capital FCU in 2014.
MIDWEST
The $3.9 billion Lake Michigan Credit Union in Grand Rapids, Mich. hired Larry Shortt as a mortgage loan officer. Early in his career, Shortt worked as a patrol officer and crime scene evidence technician for the Frankfort, Ill. Police Department. He later worked for Flagstar Bank, Bank of America and Fifth Third Bank.
SOUTH
GTE Financial named former Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor to its supervisory committee. Castor retired in May 2015 from her position as chief of the Tampa Police Department after serving the department for 31 years. She has served on the board of the Major City Chiefs Association and is a member of Harvard's Executive Session on Policing and Public Safety. Most recently, Castor was part of the GTE Foundation's scholarship judging committee and helped select 36 local high school and undergraduate students to receive academic scholarships worth $2,500 each. GTE Financial has $1.7 billion in assets and is based in Tampa, Fla.
WEST
Richard Romero, president/CEO for the Seattle-based, $675 million Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union was elected to the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions Board of Directors. According to the Federation, Romero embodies its values and mission of helping low- and moderate-income people and communities achieve financial independence. The Federation also said he offers 27 years of financial services leadership as well as a strong commitment to reach underserved markets. Romero joined SMCU in 2012, and prior to that, he served as COO for Firefighters First Credit Union in Los Angeles for eight years.
VENDORS
The Members Group in Des Moines, Iowa announced five new hires and one promotion last week. Jennifer Gibson, Christopher Olson and Edward Monteleagre joined the client development team as client business executives. Gibson most recently served as the chief retail banking officer for Two Rivers Bank & Trust. Olson previously served the $354 million Linn Area Credit Union in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as director of card services. Monteleagre has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, and most recently held two vice president positions with The Independent Bankers Bank in Lawrenceville, Ga.
In addition, Stacy Hockaday (pictured) joined the TMG sales team as director of new client partnerships, and Carol Quillen joined TMG and its sister companies as vice president of risk management for the payment processor's parent company, Affiliates Management Company. Hockaday previously served as senior director of operations for CRM Strategy and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Quillen has more than 14 years of experience in risk management in the financial services industry. TMG also promoted Georgann Smith to vice president of marketing and brand strategy. Prior to joining TMG in 2007, Smith served as vice president of marketing for Industry People Group.
TRADES
CUES named Frank Branca, director of the $6.5 billion Digital Federal Credit Union in Marlborough, Mass., as the 2015 CUES Distinguished Director. Branca has been a Digital FCU board member since 2002 and served as board chair from 2004 to 2014. He also served on nine committees, including as chairman and secretary for the supervisory committee. The CUES Distinguished Director award is presented to a credit union board or committee member who is a CUES Director or Center for Credit Union Board Excellence member, and whose achievements have strengthened their credit union.
Two credit union regulators were elected to the NASCUS board and one state credit union supervisor was appointed to a board seat. In addition, elections and appointments were made to the Credit Union Advisory Council of NASCUS. Mary Ellen O'Neill, director of the financial institution division of the Connecticut Department of Banking, and John Kolhoff, director, office of credit unions for the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, were both elected to three-year terms on the NASCUS board. Tamilee Smull, manager of the credit union division of the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions, was appointed to a one-year term on the NASCUS board.
The NASCUS Credit Union Advisory Council re-elected the following four members: Patty Idol of the $172 million Mountain Credit Union in Waynesville, N.C.; Cathie Tierney of the $2.2 billion Community First Credit Union in Appleton, Wis.; Ron McDaniel of the $1.5 billion California Credit Union in Glendale, Calif. and Mike Williams of the $133 million Colorado Credit Union in Littleton, Colo. Bob Fouch of Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego, Wis., was re-appointed to a member-at-large seat on the Credit Union Advisory Council for a three-year term.
LEAGUES
The New Jersey Credit Union League named Leo O'Donnell (pictured), president/CEO for the $2.3 million, Hackensack-based 1st Bergen Federal Credit Union, as president of its northern chapter. The New Jersey league also elected to its northern chapter Shirley McClinton-Watson of the $35 million, Newark Board of Education Employees' Credit Union in Newark as vice president; Michele Weiss of the $81 million Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union in Jersey City as treasurer and Cedric McPherson of the $3 million Newark Post Office Employees Credit Union in Newark as secretary.
