Credit unions throughout the country had another busy week of new hires, promotions and board appointments.

EAST

The $637 million Liberty Bay Credit Union in Braintree, Mass. hired Peter Dennis as senior vice president of business development. Prior to joining the cooperative, Dennis held executive positions at a variety of consulting companies.

The $563 million Align Credit Union in Lowell, Mass. hired LeeAnne Powers as an assistant vice president, business development. Prior to joining Align, she served as director of credit union marketing and credit union operations at the Insurance Center of New England. Align CU also announced that Charlotte Arivella and Kelly Tahan were promoted to assistant branch manager positions. Arrivella joined the credit union more than five years ago and previously worked as a teller. Tahan joined Align CU in 2012 and previously served as an assistant manager for TD Bank.

Erin Brubaker was appointed to the board of directors of the $592 million Sb1 Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia and John DiPietro was appointed to the credit union's supervisory committee. Brubaker, vice president of Alliance Management in Worldwide Business Development at GlaxoSmithKline, has been a Sb1 member since 1993. DiPietro is principal and chief technology officer for a2c Consulting LLC.

MIDWEST

The $562 million Marine Credit Union in La Crosse, Wis. hired Jerry Canon as vice president of its Milwaukee district. He holds more than 20 years of mortgage management experience.

The $306 million Northland Area Federal Credit Union in Oscoda, Mich. appointed Jimmy Luthmann (pictured at left) to its board of directors. In addition to being a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he also served in marketing and community relations positions with Northland Area FCU when it was previously known as the Wurtsmith Community FCU, and the Michigan Credit Union League.

Andrew Duncan was promoted to compliance officer at the $2.7 billion Veridian Credit Union. He joined the Waterloo, Iowa-based credit union seven years ago and previously worked as a business analyst. The credit union also promoted Justin Harken to the position of help desk specialist in the technology services department. He joined the cooperative a year ago as a PC specialist.

The $3.8 billion Lake Michigan Credit Union in Grand Rapids, Mich. hired Peter Rahrig as a banker for the credit union's premier banking division. He previously served as a credit analyst for Chemical Bank.

SOUTH

The $1.3 billion Associated Credit Union in Norcross, Ga. announced the promotions of four employees: Margie Burton to assistant vice president, card services; Todd Chandler to assistant vice president, information technology; Michael Huff to assistant vice president, project management and Heiwote Tadesse, assistant vice president, asset recovery.

Matt Cowell (pictured at left) was named a wealth manager at the $1.1 billion MAX Credit Union in Montgomery, Ala. He began his credit union career at MAX CU as a customer service representative and previously served as a financial consultant for Regions Financial Corp.

The $2.6 billion TDECU in Lake Jackson, Texas promoted Amber Harwell to a member center manager's position. She joined the credit union in 2010 and previously served as a financial service representative and member champion manager.

The $1 billion Georgia United Credit Union announced the appointment of Dan Jones to its board of directors. He will serve on the recently vacated seat of Geraldine Tilson, who retired after many years of service on the board. Jones previously served on the Georgia United CU supervisory committee.

WEST

The $566 million University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union in Honolulu promoted Davin Hamada (pictured at left) to vice president of compliance. During his ten years with the credit union, he previously served as the compliance director.

Brett Stubbs was promoted to first vice president, controller at the $3.6 billion Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Before joining the credit union in 2012, he served as a director for Kobani & Company.

The $188 million Pacific Community Credit Union hired Robert Barrera as a financial services consultant. Before joining the Fullerton, Calif.-based cooperative, he served as a financial services officer for eight years at the Bank of the West.

TRADES

NAFCU named Devon Lyon as its director of education. Before joining NAFCU, Lyon was director of compliance and Bank Secrecy Act and project management at the $1.6 billion State Department Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va.
