Throughout all regions of the nation, credit unions and a couple of trades said what every job candidate loves to hear: You're hired. This week's People column highlights nearly a dozen new hires and seven promotions. 

EAST

Timothy L. Anderson, president/CEO of the $38.7 million GPO Federal Credit Union in Washington, was elected to serve as the new board chair of the African-American Credit Union Coalition during the coalition's annual conference held Aug. 6-8 in Philadelphia. He succeeded Lynette Smith, president/CEO of the $95 million Washington Gas Light Federal Credit Union in Springfield, Va., who completed a two-year term as chair.

Robert S. Lockett III was named chief strategy officer and senior vice president/diversified services for the $1.2 billion Workers' Credit Union in Fitchburg, Mass. He served previously as senior vice president with the $2.6 billion TDECU in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Mike Taylor was named assistant vice president of indirect lending at the $441 million Connex Credit Union in New Haven, Conn. He previously served as a business development manager for the $153 million Seasons Federal Credit Union in Middletown, Conn. 

MIDWEST

Roy Bierschenk joined the $8.7 billion Security Service Federal Credit Union as a senior commercial loan officer in Colorado. Prior to joining the San Antonio-based cooperative, he served as a commercial real estate broker for Terrix Financial in Colorado Springs.

The $2.7 billion Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo, Iowa promoted two employees and announced a new hire. Dawn McMahon was promoted to manager of internal audit. She joined the credit union 14 years ago and recently served as a compliance and risk officer. Cara Hintz was promoted to branch manager. She joined the credit union in 2005 and previously worked as a team lead in the member contact center. Heather Plum was hired as a public relations strategist. She previously served as a sales manager and event coordinator at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center.

The $483 million Heritage Federal Credit Union in Newburgh, Ind. announced that Mark Treadway, Glenn Kingsbury and Larry Barnhill were promoted to senior branch manager positions, and that Pam Hamilton was promoted to assistant branch manager. Treadway joined the credit union in 2004 as a financial services consultant. Kingsbury joined the credit union in 2009 as an assistant branch manager. Barnhill began his career with HFCU in 2012 as branch manager and Hamilton began working as an HFCU teller in 2003.

SOUTH

Eunice Johnson Rogers, president/CEO of the $1 million NRS Community Development Federal Credit Union in Birmingham, Ala., will receive the 2015 Annie Vamper Helping Hands Award, the highest honor given by the New York City-based National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. Eunice will receive her award for her commitment to serving low- and moderate-income consumers during a special ceremony at the federation's annual conference in September in Phoenix, Ariz.

Cesar Ruiz was named the new vice president at the $68 million Metro Medical Credit Union in Dallas. With more than 19 years of financial services experience, he previously worked as the founder and principal consultant at Fundeloan Micro Finance and served as director of small business/commercial lending at the $791 million InTouch Credit Union in Plano, Texas.

Chris Anuswith was hired as vice president of risk management at the $494 million ABNB Federal Credit Union in Chesapeake, Va. He previously served as president/CEO the Guardian Federal Credit Union, which merged into ABNB FCU.

WEST

The $1.3 billion Hawaii State Federal Credit Union in Honolulu hired Regan Yamada and Jason Lau as financial advisors. Prior to joining Hawaii State FCU, Yamada served as a financial consultant at First Hawaiian Bank and American Savings Bank. Lau previously served as vice president and a registered representative at Bank of Hawaii for 15 years.

The $3.6 billion Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif. hired Joseph Bonacci as a first vice president, IT service delivery.

The $157 million Peninsula Credit Union in Shelton, Wash., promoted Christopher Plummer to IT services manager. He joined the credit union four years ago and recently served as a network administrator.

TRADES

Kris Jacobsen joined the Minnesota Credit Union Network in Minneapolis as director of business development. He holds 14 years of financial services experience.

Lindsay J. Libengood joined the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association in Harrisburg as product manager. She previously served as a project coordinator and front office manager for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.
