NAFCU president/CEO Dan Berger received a base compensation of $455,599 in 2014, according to NAFCU's IRS 990 form, significantly less than his CUNA counterpart Jim Nussle's base salary of $850,000.
NAFCU submitted its 990 form in May 2015.
Berger also received a bonus and incentive pay of $97,165, and $72,926 in retirement and other deferred compensation for a total of $658,934.
As CU Times previously reported, Berger received $415,794 in base compensation in 2013, as well as $307,504 in deferred compensation for a multi-year 457(f) retirement plan, according to NAFCU's tax document. The former NAFCU executive vice president was promoted to president/CEO on Aug. 1, 2013.
Berger's predecessor, Fred Becker, retired as president/CEO on July 31, 2013. His base salary for that year through July 31 was $431,675, and his total compensation was $604,955, including $122,000 in bonus and incentive pay.
NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone was paid a total of $438,690 in 2014, with $272,729 as his base pay. He also received $90,579 in deferred compensation for a multi-year 457(f) retirement plan in 2014, according to the tax document. That represents a jump from $250,866, his base compensation in 2013.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel Carrie Hunt was paid a total of $278,613 in 2014, with a base compensation of $220,821.
NAFCU did not employ any independent contractors in 2014, according to the 990 form.
The trade association received $7,590,330 in membership dues for a total revenue of $13,166,578 last year. In addition, its total assets grew to $19,535,399 and its net assets grew to $11,217,801.
