The $94 million, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.-based Members' Advantage Credit Union announced it will begin offering members remote deposit capture and plans to deploy the Duluth, Ga.-based VSoft Corp.'s OnView Mobile Deposit.
Through OnView Mobile Deposit, Members' Advantage Credit Union will offer members the ability to make deposits any time with a mobile device.
VSoft's solution accepts check images and transmits deposits to VSoft's data center for secure processing. Its central operations area applies the amount confirmation engines, image quality tools, and image-based reject repair and duplicate detection filters.
"We were in search of a leading-edge mobile solution, and VSoft's OnView Mobile Deposit offered the features and user experience we wanted for our members," Thomas E. Bulin, president/CEO for Members' Advantage Credit Union, said in a press release.
"By leveraging best-of-breed technology, our members will reduce their deposit preparation time, which ultimately accelerates their funds availability. Our primary goal is to serve our members to the best of our ability, and we're confident that with VSoft's mobile deposit solution, we will continue to do so."
VSoft's OnView Mobile Deposit can function as a standalone application or integrate with other mobile banking services using both server-to-server and single sign on (SSO) models.
In addition, the solution can be deployed in-house or hosted out of VSoft's data center, VServe – which is what Members' Advantage Credit Union will leverage.
"Consumers are increasingly expecting added convenience from their financial institutions, including being able to make deposits anywhere, anytime," Murthy Veeraghanta, Chairman and CEO of VSoft Corporation, said. "With VSoft's Mobile Deposit solution, institutions like Members' Advantage Credit Union are doing just that by extending the convenience and cost savings of remote deposit capture and transmission right into the palms of its members."
A survey from the San Francisco, Calif.-based Javelin Strategy & Research found that 23% of consumers now prefer to employ their smartphones as a primary access point for their checking accounts, compared to 17% who favor the branch.
The Federal Reserve said earlier this year that 51% of mobile bankers used "remote deposit capture" last year, up from 38% in 2013. Overall, cell phone owners who've used mobile banking jumped from 22% in 2011 to 39% last year, the Fed said.
