Hope Credit Union announced it will open two new branches in a lower-income area of the Mississippi Delta.

The two new branches, one located in Itta Bena (population 2,014 in 2013), Miss. and one in Moorhead (population 2,327 in 2013), Miss. will be opened in buildings that were formerly owned by Regions Bank and donated to Hope's sponsoring organization, Hope Enterprise Corporation.

"This donation represents the next step in the great partnership we've forged with Hope," Jimmy Brown, Regions' area president in north Mississippi, said. "Hope will be an excellent addition to these communities, and we are delighted to be providing not just a physical location but also equipment and other support to help ensure their future success."

Bill Bynum, CEO of Hope, stated, "Since the opening of our Greenville office in 1994, Hope has helped thousands of Delta entrepreneurs, homebuyers and families meet their financial needs. Regions Bank has been a long time and invaluable ally to Hope. Their generous contributions of the facilities and financial support provide a tremendous boost to our efforts. The Delta branches will increase the number of Hope locations throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee to 24."

Hope spokesman Elaina Jackson explained that the credit union would have a presence in both communities before the branches actually open in October of this year.

"We have people there today," Jackson said, explaining that credit union staff would be in libraries and on the campuses of area schools to provide more information, open accounts and take loan applications.
