Barb Bowker, vice president of marketing at PSECU, has been recognized by Central Penn Business Journal as on of its 2015 Women of Influence.
This year 27 women were recognized for making a significant positive impact in local businesses and communities.
“Being included with such an accomplished group of women is both rewarding and inspiring. I hope that hearing the stories of each of my fellow honorees will motivate others to pursue their passions in both business and community service,” Bowker said.
Bowker has been with the $4.3 billion Harrisburg, Pa.-based credit union for some 28 years in departments ranging from information technology and member services to marketing.
In addition to an expansion of PSECU's University Development program, under her leadership technology has been further integrated into marketing and membership development strategies resulting in greater community involvement and outreach.
Bowker's commitment to community service has always extended beyond her role at PSECU including volunteering and next month, serving as board chair of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Capital Region Division.
She has also found time to serve as secretary of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber's Board and as a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation board of directors. Bowker recently wrapped up her term as a member of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation board of directors, where she served as secretary.
She is a graduate of the Leadership Harrisburg Area Community Leadership Series and a past recipient of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg's Women of Excellence award.
