COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–For the last few days, credit union executives from all over the country have been telling the world what they really think by weighing in on polls at the CO-OP THiNK conference in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The question topics ranged from technology to consumer expectations, and more than 200 people responded to each poll. Here's a peek at what credit unions had to say on some big issues.
In the technology age, what should credit unions focus on? Credit unions overwhelmingly believe relationships should be their biggest focus. Only about one in 10 people think technology products themselves should be the priority.

What's the biggest challenge to meet increased consumer expectations? THiNK attendees said communication is the biggest hurdle in meeting higher consumer expectations, but one in four said issues related to teamwork are the biggest challenge.
What is the role of credit unions in their local community? The answers were split on this one; most said credit unions should play a leading role in their communities, but a significant minority said providing financial services is their primary role. Partnering with other brands only got 3% of the vote.
How should we improve our members' lives? Credit union executives overwhelmingly believe they bear some responsibility for improving their members' financial well-being. Only about one in five said they should improve members' lives by being efficient. About 10% said improving the community is the best way to improve members' lives.
