Jeremy Cybulski, youth and community development coordinator for the $508 million Zeal Credit Union, headed to California in March to tape an episode on the television game show Wheel of Fortune.

The show came to the Detroit area in early summer 2014 seeking possible contestants, and Cybulski decided to audition, according to the Livonia, Mich.-based credit union. The show's producers called him back for a second audition in August, informed him in February 2015 that they wanted him as a contestant, and asked him to travel to California in March.

Cybulski's episode of the program will air on May 13, the credit union added.

“It's no surprise to us that Jeremy was picked,” Lisa Fawcett, Zeal's vice president of marketing, said. “He's a credit union cheerleader. Jeremy helped guide nine student credit union branches and gave hundreds of financial literacy presentations and workshops. You'll see him in our branches, in the schools and at community events.”

“Being on the show was an experience of a lifetime,” Cybulski said. “It's tough not to be able to talk about it, and believe me, everyone wants to know, especially the kids at school.” The show's rules forbid him from revealing the show's results until after it airs in May.

Because Cybulski is responsible for helping young students in elementary and middle school learn how to get an early start on managing their finances by saving and budgeting, he may be facing more questions should his TV appearance reveal he won money, Zeal said.

While the long-running and popular TV game show attracted a senior audience during its weeknight programs, Zeal speculated that Cybulski's appearance might spike a higher rating with hundreds of young viewers from the metropolitan Detroit area, the cooperative said. 

“Unfortunately, the game show's winnings aren't tied to the number of viewers for each contestant,” added Fawcett. “If they were, then we'd already know that Jeremy won.”
