FundedByMe, Europe's largest and most flexible crowdfunding site, banked on the market for Internet currency bitcoins. Investors have the next six weeks to prove it right or wrong.

The Stockholm-based platform kicked off a 45-day pilot project to see how much investment interest it could attract to the bitcoin trading platform Safello, which was designed to bring greater safety and security to bitcoin commerce. After the crowdfunding campaign closes, Safello officials will carefully analyze activity and results, according to FundedByMe CEO and Founder Daniel Deboczy.

“We see that among our investors, a great many of them are early-adopters,” Deboczy said. “We also know that bitcoin users are familiar with new inventions at an early stage. That's why we thought that we may offer both groups something interesting.”

The pilot project also accommodates the bitcoin community, Safello CEO and Cofounder Frank Schuil said.

“We know that many of our customers would be interested to invest if they can do so with bitcoins,” Schuil said. “As a bitcoin company, we of course need to support this. For customers who are already verified with Safello, this will also be the easiest way to invest.”

The program's lead investor was the Digital Currency Group, which incubates and seeds bitcoin and blockchain technology-related companies, Deboczy added. Digital CEO Barry Silbert was the most active seed investor in the digital currency industry with more than 50 investments in 15 different countries.

“I don't worry about the success of this campaign,” Deboczy added. “It's very attractive and there will probably be many investors wanting to allocate their money.”
