Former Mississippi State Senator Tommy Robertson was accused of using his position as an attorney on the board of directors of the $195 million Singing River Federal Credit Union in Moss Point, Miss., to embezzle more than $484,000, state authorities said Monday.
Mississippi State Auditor Stacey Pickering and Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence jointly announced that Robertson, 59, was indicted on five counts of embezzlement.
Robertson is accused of using his position as board attorney for the Singing River Federal Credit Union to embezzle $484,092 of loan proceeds which he held in trust for the purpose of distributing the funds in accordance with the applicable loan statements, Pickering and Lawrence said.
