Peggy Sherry has been named deputy CFO at the NCUA.

Sherry, who started at the agency Monday, previously worked at the Internal Revenue Service as deputy commissioner for operations support.

She also served as CFO at the Department of Homeland Security and held senior financial management positions at the United States Holocaust Museum and the Government Accountability Office.

“Her deep experience in financial management, in both the private and public sectors, has been marked by her intelligence, professionalism, innovation and sound judgment, all of which will serve NCUA and the credit unions we regulate and insure very well,” NCUA Executive Director Mark A. Treichel said.

Sherry, a certified public accountant and a certified government financial manager, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from George Mason University and a Master of Science degree in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland University College.

The NCUA said Sherry has received many awards for her work, including the Certificate of Excellence in Accountability Reporting and the Achievement of the Year Award from the Association of Government Accountants.
