CUNA's leadership team was restructured Tuesday in an effort to streamline communication between the association's Washington and Madison, Wis., offices, according to the trade group.
CUNA said it has eliminated the positions of general counsel and SVP of communications.
Eric Richard, who served as general counsel, will leave CUNA Jan. 9, the trade group said.
Pat Keefe, who served as SVP of communications, will leave Jan. 7.
Bill Hampel is taking over as interim chief strategic communications officer, according to CUNA.
The new leadership team consists of Rich Meade as COO and Jill Tomalin as deputy COO.
Other members of the team include Hampel as chief policy officer, Brian Nelson as CFO, Susan Newton as chief engagement officer, Ryan Donovan as chief advocacy officer, Todd Spiczenski as chief products & services officer, Susan Parisi as chief legal officer, Richard Gose as chief political officer and Kathy Thompson as chief compliance officer.
Hampel told CU Times Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Mary Dunn will remain in charge of CUNA's regulatory affairs, which is part of the trade's advocacy department.
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said the new arrangement, named 1CUNA, creates one central team focused on meeting the needs of credit unions.
“With this new structure we are moving forward with a strong and forceful agenda to advance our shared vision that Americans choose credit unions as their best financial partner,” Nussle said.
He added, “CUNA will become even more responsive to the needs of our members. To do that, we'll continue to work on our three priorities: removing barriers, creating awareness and fostering service excellence for credit unions.”
