Mendell Thompson, president/CEO of America's Christian Credit Union, was recognized by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for the cooperative's work in funding 1,100 adoptions since 2009.

On Wednesday, Mike Antonovich, a county board supervisor, presented Thompson and the staff at the $281 million Glendora, Calif.-based credit union with a certificate commemorating their work.

“This is truly an honor. I would like to take this moment to call attention to and give a voice to those that have no voice and no home,” Thompson said. “During the season that we are in, I can think of no better gift than to find a home for a child that has no home.”

The office of U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) also presented Thompson with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from for his commitment to caring for orphans.

Norm Sauve, board chair at America's Christian CU, and Judy Nelson, mayor of Glendora, shared a few words of support and commendation during the presentation. Staff from the credit union also turned out for the recognition event.
