Members and employees of the $451 million Quincy Credit Union in Quincy, Mass., raised $3,000 for breast cancer research during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Over the month long event, employees sold various items and wore QCU pink shirts to show their support. The credit union also offered  a custom "Ribbon of Hope" debit card year-round to promote awareness among its members.

Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union in Middleton, Pa. raised more than $15,000 at 14 events throughout the year to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. One of the fund-raising events included Mid-Atlantic Corporate's first hot dog eating contest. Employees also planted a community garden to grow and harvest vegetables that were sold to raise funds that were donated to the hospital network.

Volunteers from the $1 billion Hanscom Federal Credit Union in Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., provided a dinner for guests at the Fisher House Boston, a temporary home for families of veterans who received medical treatment at the Veterans Affairs Boston Health System in West Roxbury. Hanscom FCU volunteers also visit Fisher House Boston throughout the year to provide hands-on and material support.

The $206 million MidSouth Community Federal Credit Union in Macon, Ga., presented a donation to Café Central soup kitchen, which provides meals to needy residents in middle Georgia during the holiday season. The credit union also presented a donation to the Bibb County School District, shown at left, that will be used to support various events and meetings of the board of education.

The $2.4 billion Service Credit Union in Portsmouth, N.H, launched its Toy for Tots drive with the U.S. Marine Corp. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation relies on donations from corporate partners like Service CU to help collect and deliver gifts to children. The partnership expands the credit union's commitment to helping children throughout the community and its longtime support of the military as Service CU was founded more than 55 years ago at Pease Air Force Base.

The $6.3 billion America First Credit Union in Ogden, Utah donated $10,000 worth of turkeys for military personnel and their families at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas last month through Operation Warmheart, an organization made up of military members who help their fellow aviators.

The $1 billion Meriwest Credit Union in San Jose raised more than $4,000 during its participation in Shop for Miracles, a one-day Credit Unions for Kids program. Funds raised from this campaign supported UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, the local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Each time Meriwest members used their credit union debit card on Oct. 16, Meriwest donated $0.25 per transaction toward the hospital. Additionally, a dollar-for-dollar match from CO-OP Financial Services' Miracle Match program, Meriwest also presented a check for more than $9,000 to the hospital.

The $1.9 billion Robins Federal Credit Union in Warner Robins, Ga.,  partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia by making a $4,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House's 365 Day Society. In addition to the monetary donation, Robins FCU staff volunteered to help at the house for two workdays. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia provides support services for families with critically ill or injured children being treated in area medical facilities.

The $208 million Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union in Scranton, Pa. donated more than $1,400 to Susan G. Komen Northeastern Pennsylvania Race for the Cure. The credit union collected donations by hosting branch fundraisers including T-shirt sales, a pumpkin decorating contest and a chili cook-off event.
