Tech sites have been abuzz this week with reports that Facebook is building a workplace version of its massive social networking service.
Facebook for Work, as it's been dubbed, is designed to be an enterprise-wide messaging and collaboration tool, according to reports.
However, given that many financial services organizations don't even allow employees to access Facebook from work computers, convincing credit union executives to embrace the social media channel as a productivity tool will likely be a hard sell.

"I have concerns over whether Facebook's platform – even if it is separated from the personal-use platform – can be trusted in a workplace environment," Ray Rounds, SVP/information services at the $784 million Credit Union of Southern California in Whittier, Calif., said.
After all, Facebook derives substantial revenue from brokering the data it collects on users, and has also come under fire several times for its privacy policies.
Rounds also pointed out that Facebook seems to be entering an already crowded space.
There are currently established tools available for everything from simple collaboration such as Google Docs, to full-blown social networking-style portals such as Yammer.
