Experian, one of three national consumer data firms, reported Tuesday that consumers' credit scores have risen since 2013.
More consumers have opened credit card accounts as well, the firm noted in its fifth annual State of Credit Study report.
National average VantageScore credit scores rose two points since 2013, from 664 to 666, and the numbers of new bank card accounts opened rose 21.1%, according to the study.

In 2014, one in 17 consumers opened at least one bank card account while in 2013, one in 21 consumers did so.
Experian said this has led to an increase in the average number of bank cards and retail cards per consumer.
The average number of bank cards per person was 2.18 bank cards per consumer and 1.54 retail cards per consumer.
Experian said the average debt per person rose 2.3% to $28,496.
However, as much as card lending has increased, mortgage lending has continued to slow with originations down 39% from 2013.
So far in 2014, one in 79 households secured a new mortgage, compared to one in 48 in 2013, according to Experian.
