UMassFive College Federal Credit Union staffers took to the streets to help in the fight against cancer.

This year, some 40 people walked as part of Team UMassFive at the UMass Medicine Cancer Center's annual Walk to Cure Cancer fundraising drive.

The UMass Medicine Cancer Walk represents the biggest fundraiser for the UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence, which has contributed to cancer research and life-extending clinical trials of cutting edge procedures and treatments.

To date, employees at the $380 million credit union based in Hadley, Mass. have raised over $7,000 in 2014. For many of the employees the fundraising efforts have been personal in honor of those diagnosed with cancer, and in memory of those who have been lost to cancer.

For the third year in a row, Team UMassFive has ranked as one of the top fundraising groups of the event. Fundraisers will continue during the months of November and December as cookbooks ,which were created by UMassFive staff for the Walk, will be offered in branches for a donation of any amount, while supplies last.

“This fundraising effort is very important to a lot of our employees and members, who have been impacted in a variety of ways by this terrible disease,”Sean Capaloff-Jones, member outreach manager said.
