To help its core credit union clients combat identity theft and credit card fraud, core processor Symitar has partnered with Stickley on Security to offer SoS Advisor.
The service provides security education on topics such as phishing, fraud, identity theft, malware, and many other scams, presented in articles, videos, quick tips and tickers that can be deployed anywhere on a credit union's website, according to Symitar in Monett, Mo.
"Members of credit unions are struggling right now to protect themselves from fraud," Jim Stickley, SoS founder, said. "This partnership with Symitar will give credit unions a valuable new resource to help their members win this fight. When people know what to look for, they are far less likely to fall victim."
The $6.6 billion San Diego County Credit Union was an early adopter of SoS Advisor, according to SoS.
"With a greater prevalence of fraud and identity theft in recent years, helping members protect their confidential data is of the utmost importance to us," Teresa Halleck, president/CEO of San Diego County Credit Union, said.
She added, "Access to SoS Advisor educates our members about possible security risks, keeping them informed of new breaches and attacks while also helping mitigate potential threats."
Symitar President Ted Bilke said the company's partnership with SoS offers credit unions the ability to take a proactive stance in helping their members fight back.
"Providing comprehensive security awareness and education not only builds a stronger relationship between credit unions and their members, but ultimately reduces the costs associated with member fraud," Bilke said.
