The NCUA will not endorse vendors or provide reviews from credit unions using their services on the agency's vendor list, according to Bill Myers, director of the NCUA's Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives.
The vendor list is referred to as CUSP.
“CUSP is basic. It provides no ratings, no endorsements, and no user feedback,” Myers wrote in an email to CU Times. “But, it does provide a quick way to comprehensively identify potential vendors of CU services.”
This differs from OSCUI's initial characterization of the list, which compared it to the popular Angie's List that provides consumers with a collection of available contractors.
Angie's List includes consumer reviews and recommendations of its vendors. It also charges vendors and users a fee.
Myers said the CUSP list will differ from preferred vendor lists maintained by CUNA, NAFCU and the state leagues in that it will be free to vendors and credit unions and open to all credit unions no matter where they are located.
He said the NCUA would build CUSP on the System for Awards Management, the federal government's existing vendor list that can be found at SAM.gov, which is administered by the General Services Administration.
