Bob Schumacher, retired president/CEO of the $86 million MountainCrest Credit Union and longtime advocate for the National Credit Union Foundation's Development Education program, is one of four recipients of the 2015 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards.
Schumacher will join the other winners at the NCUF's Wegner Award Dinner March 9, 2015 in Washington.
When announcing the award, the foundation highlighted Schumacher's role in planning, building and promoting the development education program, which introduces executives and leaders to fundamental concepts in cooperative organization and economic development.

Schumacher was involved in the inaugural formation of the Credit Union Development Education Advisory Council and was elected chair by his colleagues where he served from 2010 to 2013.
Last year, Schumacher also received the Credit Union Development Education's Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Bob co-facilitated the CUDE training session I attended in 2008, and it was at that time that I came to know him as a true credit union leader," Lily Newfarmer, president/CEO of the $73 million Tarrant County Credit Union in Fort Worth, Texas, said.
"The genuine passion and dedication that he exhibited in that role not only increased my experience as an attendee, but also re-ignited my own commitment to our movement," she added.
The NCUF also pointed out Schumacher's service in a wide range of different roles within the credit union industry including at CUNA, the Washington and Florida Credit Union Leagues and at MountainCrest as well as service to CUSOs and in several volunteer positions for credit union nonprofits.
"Bob has had a long lasting impact on so many people in the credit union industry," Mark Morrison, president/CEO, MountainCrest in Arlington, Wash, said. "No matter where I travel, I always have someone say how much they adore Bob."
"Many people tell me stories about how they were inspired by Bob in developing and advancing their careers. Bob has made me and countless others proud to be able to say that we are able to be a small part of his life," Morrison said.
