Sunmark Federal Credit Union President/CEO Bruce Beaudette said he plans to retire at the end of the year after more than 28 years of service. He is one of the longest serving CEOs in the Albany, N.Y., region, the $419 million, Latham-based cooperative said in a prepared statement. Beaudette led the organization's growth from one branch and eight employees to 10 branches and 185 employees. As the third largest credit union in the Albany area, Sunmark serves more than 48,000 members. Following Beaudette's retirement, Frank DeGraw, Sunmark's EVP, will serve as interim president /CEO while the board of directors conducts a national search for a permanent CEO.
Caleb Cook was appointed vice president of mortgage lending and Jane Fontaine was appointed vice president of human resources at thee $5.6 billion Digital Federal Credit Union in Marlborough, Mass. Previously, Cook was vice president of lending at the $602 million Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, where he increased mortgage production, reduced average turnaround time on loans, and increased gain on sale income by proactively managing pricing and secondary marketing. Fontaine served as the vice president of human resources at Marlborough Hospital where she worked with senior staff to increase efficiency and productivity across all operations and improve service delivery to patients through streamlining of processes and collaborated with clinical leadership in implementing proposals aimed at cost savings, revenue generation, and increasing patient satisfaction
SOUTH
The $196 million Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union in Houston, appointed John Smith as its CFO. He is responsible for overseeing financial operations, including investment portfolio management, balance sheet strategies, budget preparation, financial performance, risk management and accounting practices. He brings more than three decades of related experience to his new position and a wide range of skills, including balance sheet and investment portfolio management. He served as CFO at Capital West Bank where he helped strengthen the financial institution's profitability following the recent recession.
Delia W. Black was honored by the $3.6 billion Redstone Federal Credit Union in Huntsville, Ala., for her induction into the Defense Credit Union Council Hall of Honor. A board member of Redstone FCU, she began as a volunteer at the credit union in 1979 and joined the board of directors in 1980. Black advocated for employee training and development at the credit union and guided the organization's development into one of the top employers in the Tennessee Valley. The Hall of Honor induction is the highest honor bestowed by the Defense Credit Union Council that acknowledges individuals whose exceptional contributions have made a significant difference in the defense credit union community and the Defense Credit Union Council.
MIDWEST
Kurt Lewin was appointed president/CEO of Deere Employees Credit Union in Moline, Ill., Sept. 1. He replaced Bill Stangler who retired after 15 years of service as president/CEO, DECU said in a prepared statement. Under his leadership, the cooperative grew its assets from $137 million in 1999 to more than $672 million this year. Lewin joined DECU as a member service manager in 1995 and was promoted to vice president of operations in 1999 and EVP in January 2001.
The $966 million Meritrust Credit Union in Wichita, Kan., said Randy Doerksen will be its new vice president/CFO effective Oct. 13. For 26 years, he was the vice president of administration and finance at Friend's University, also in Wichita, where he oversaw accounting, auxiliary services, budget, student financial aid, human resources, administrative information technology, receivables and collections, and physical plant departments. Since 2003, Doerksen served as education affiliate consultant for Doerksen Consulting LLC, where he provided consulting services to private universities seeking expertise in the areas of budgeting, finance, resource allocation methods, and financial planning and projections.
The $1.4 billion Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis., named Amy Forcier-Pabst as EVP of member experience. She is responsible for creating exceptional member experiences in the branches, call center and the investment and insurance team. Forcier-Pabst started with Royal in 1997 as branch manager and held many other positions including operations coordinator, service and sales leader, and program director for organizational alignment.
WEST
The $898 million Xceed Financial Credit Union in El Segundo, Calif., promoted Paris Chevalier to chief marketing officer. Gayle Smith was appointed vice president and branch manager at the $985 million Columbia Community Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash.
