Despite a 6.0 earthquake that rattled Northern California early Sunday morning and several roads in downtown Napa, credit unions there will be open for business Monday, including a new branch.

Todd Sheffield, president/CEO of the $166 million Community First Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., said Sunday afternoon his new branch, located at 2375 California Blvd., is still scheduled to open at 9 a.m. today. The new location is replacing a branch at 1100 Trancas Street, which will be closed today due to earthquake damage, Sheffield said. The branches are only 1.5 miles apart.

“We do plan on opening at this time,” he wrote in an email. “It appears the damage is minimal. We're still waiting for power to be restored so we can complete our assessment. We just finished preparing the new office on Saturday, so the timing is a bit unfortunate, until I learned that our old office building at 1100 Trancas will be closed due to damage, so it is all working out.”

Napa city officials closed off some streets because of damaged buildings, as well as buckled streets and sidewalks.

“I've gotten no reports that (the street) is closed,” Cynthia Negri, executive vice president and chief operations officer for the $2.3 billion Redwood Credit union based in Santa Rosa said Sunday. “We have every intention of opening tomorrow. We cleaned up some things that fell down during the evening and we'll be ready for business.”

Redwood's Napa branch is located at 1705 1^st Street, which is near the center of the city that got hit hard by the earthquake.

Some brochure racks and items in the branch's kitchen fell on to the floor during the earthquake, she said, but the branch did not sustain any damage.  Power to the branch and its ATM was restored at about 1 p.m.  (Pacific Time), Negri said.

Power also was lost for a few hours at Redwood branch in Sonoma, Calif., but no damage was reported at that location.

Negri also said Redwood's employees were not affected by the earthquake and were expected to report to work Monday.

Other credit unions that operate branches in Napa include the $2.2 billion Travis CU in Vacaville, Calif., the $8.5 billion Golden 1 CU in Sacramento, Calif., the $5.5 million Heath Care Professional of Napa FCU in Napa, and the Community Trust CU, a division of the $550 million Self-Help FCU in Durham, N.C. These cooperatives did not post any notices on their websites or social media sites regarding their branches as of 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
