The $445 million BrightStar Credit Union in Sunrise, Fla., said its president/CEO, Ralph Crockett, retired July 30 and will be replaced on an interim basis by a longtime board member.
Crockett joined the now 55,000-member credit union in 1999 as vice president of business development and took the helm in 2002.
Since then, the credit union said it has more than doubled in size, relocated its corporate office, changed names, remodeled all its locations and added new offices in Pembroke Pines and Pompano Beach, Fla.
"Ralph has been the very heart of our credit union," said BrightStar Board Chairperson Dorothy Orr. "His retirement is our loss, but will be a well-deserved respite for him. Ralph departs with an excellent record of accomplishments."
Twenty-two year board member Colin Battle has been named interim CEO, BrightStar said Tuesday in its announcement.
Battle has been a credit union member since 1973 and retired as a senior professor of accounting from Broward College in 2007, according to BrightStar.
