Mikenzee Washington, shown here in the center, was one of the lucky winners at the 11th annual free Kids Bike Race put on by the $234 million Pelican State Credit Union recently in Denham Springs, La. More than 90 kids participated in three races by age group and then a winner was drawn from each group to receive a new bicycle from Capitol Cyclery. Mikenzee won in the 5 and under category. “This event is all about getting kids up and moving. Pelican believes that both financial and physical health are important and loves providing an outlet for the community to come together year after year before school starts,” said the Baton Rouge credit union's CEO, Jeffrey Conrad. The event also included T-shirts and goody bags for all race participants, healthy refreshments, music, games, fire truck tours, a bounce house, photo booth, face painting and door prizes for parents.
