The $1.3 billion Gesa Credit Union in Richland, Wash., is now offering its 118,300 members a person-to-person payment option.
Gesa is one of the first users of the turnkey Pocket-2-Pocket service from Member Access Pacific, according to MAP, a Seattle-based CUSO that bills itself as the nation's only card processing aggregator of the Visa debit processing service platform for credit unions.
MAP said the white-labeled service, marketed as Gesa P2P Express, works on smart phones or online and uses the CU24 gateway network as its payment rail so it requires minimal IT involvement at the credit union.

"Utilizing a smart phone or PC, our members are able to send money to anyone with a U.S. banking account. The funds are withdrawn from their checking account via the members' debit card and secure PIN," Brian Griffith, assistant vice president of marketing at Gesa, said in the July 3 announcement.
The receivers of the funds can be on any network with any financial institution. Money goes straight to their debit card or checking account, MAP said. Members also can choose to register their participation, which adds enhanced features such as history and debit card number storage.
