The $966 million Arkansas Federal Credit Union in Jacksonville, Ark., said Rodney Showmar, its current vice president and COO, will president/CEO after current President/CEO Larry Biernacki retires on Aug. 4.

Showmar also was vice president of marketing and business development at AFCU from 2001 to 2008 and prior to that worked as a senior marketing research analyst at Reliant Energy and a senior buyer at Dillard's Inc. and also was the founder of Partygras Party Rentals Inc. in Little Rock.

"Rodney has extensive operations and financial management experience and is just the individual to lead us on our continuing journey of growth and development," Phillip B. Boudreaux, chairperson of the 95,500-member credit union's board, said in the July 14 announcement.

AFCU was founded in 1956 to serve Little Rock Air Force Base. Following nine mergers in the 90s, it now is the state's largest credit union, the announcement said. Biernacki has been president/CEO since 2005.
