CUNA announced on Tuesday that its political action committee, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council, has raised more than $3.25 million for the 2013-2014 election cycle as of June 30.

The updated totals will be reflected on CULAC's upcoming Federal Election Commission filing.

"If current trends continue, CULAC will again set another fundraising record this year," said Trey Hawkins, CUNA vice president of political affairs. According to CUNA, the $3.25 million total includes $2.5 million going directly to candidates, with 50.01% contributed to Democrats, 49.85% to Republicans and 0.14% to Independents.

"This incredible level of support from thousands of credit union members across the country means we can do even more to help elect and re-elect pro-credit union candidates this fall," said John Magill, CUNA executive vice president of government affairs and special assistant to the president.
