U.S. Veterans Magazine named the NCUA one of the best places for veterans to work.
In 2014, veterans account for 47% of the NCUA's new hires. Overall, veterans make up 16% of the agency's employees.
"The men and women who've served in our armed forces have given their time and talents to our country, and they acquired valuable skills during their service," NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said. "As part of our efforts to make NCUA an employer of choice, we want to be certain veterans know about the kinds of job opportunities available at the agency. We also want access to this group of talented workers with a commitment to public service. That makes this recognition particularly satisfying to us."
In September 2013, the NCUA partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs on the Feds for Vets program to provide more employment opportunities for veterans.
"The agency's ongoing efforts to promote employment to veterans includes targeted outreach to veterans and the Pathways Program, which aims outreach at entry-level candidates, including disabled veterans, and provides flexibility to veterans who are recent graduates," said the agency on Tuesday in a press release.
DiversityComm, Inc., the parent company of U.S. Veterans Magazine, conducts evaluations of employers to recognize the "Best of the Best" in outreach and accessibility to women, veterans, and African American and Hispanic populations.
In the past, other DiversityComm, Inc. publications including Black EOE Journal and Professional Woman's Magazine, identified the NCUA as one of the best places to work women and minorities.
