Patrick McPharlin will be retiring from the $2.6 billion Michigan State University Federal Credit Union and succeeded by current EVP/COO April Clobes, the 183,400-member credit union announced Thursday.

McPharlin has been with MSUFCU, now the world's largest university-affiliated credit union, since 1973 and at the helm there for the past 14 years. He was NAFCU's CEO of the Year in 2010.

The board said the succession from McPharlin to Clobes will take place next March and is the culmination of a multi-year plan.
