The $929 million WEOKIE Credit Union in Oklahoma City is mourning the loss of charter board member Jack D. McCurdy.

McCurdy, who had served on the board since the credit union was founded in 1969, died on April 17, WEOKIE said in an announcement.

“It is very difficult to fully express the profound impact that Jack had on WEOKIE Credit Union and the people involved in the organization. From day one, Jack was integrally involved and provided his guidance and expertise in many ways through decades of volunteer service,” WEOKIE's President/CEO Brent Taylor said in the announcement.

McCurdy was a retired engineering manager and also had volunteered as a member of the Oklahoma State Credit Union board. He was a CUES Director of the Year in 1997 and was inducted into the CUES Hall of Fame in 2009.

WEOKIE's newest building, completed in December 2010, was named the Jack D. McCurdy Operations Center in his honor, the 51,800-member credit union said.

McCurdy, a Navy veteran, was 77. He was survived by his wife of 57 years, Dee McCurdy, and three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His funeral was set for Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. CDT at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon, Okla.
