Professional Woman's Magazine recognized the NCUA as a Best of the Best place to work for women, the agency said Thursday.
DiversityComm, Inc., the parent company of the magazine, is a human resources research and consulting firm that specialized in workplace diversity. Each year the company conducts evaluations of employers, including government agencies and chooses the “Best of the Best” based on their outreach and accessibility to African Americans, Hispanics, females and veterans.
“NCUA strives every day to be an employer of choice. Part of that effort is to promote workplace diversity and opportunities for women and minorities to pursue rewarding careers,” NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said. “The recognition that NCUA is among the 'Best of the Best' encourages us to continue to build a stronger and more diverse workforce that reflects the demographics of America.”
The NCUA's Office of Minority and Women Inclusion sends a report to Congress each year about the agency's diversity efforts, as mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act. According to the most recent report, representation of women in executive positions at the agency increased by 11.2 percentage points since 2011 to 42.6%. Minorities, which included multiracial employees, collectively jumped 1.6% from 2011 to 26.8% of the NCUA's workforce in 2013.
