The $2 billion, El Paso, Texas-based GECU signed an agreement with El Paso's new Triple A baseball team to offer members an affinity debit card. The name of the team, which is the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, is the Chihuahuas.

Communications Specialist Stephanie Quiroz said GECU will charge participating members $5 to cover the licensing cost of using the team logo. It will be available from three branches, as well as online and through the credit union's call center.

GECU has more than 312,000 members.

“We are so excited to unveil the new debit card! The El Paso Chihuahuas will offer affordable family entertainment, community support of local charities, and a fascinating venue. Our members have already expressed their excitement about El Paso's newest must-go destination,” said GECU CEO Crystal Long.

“GECU is a leading business in our Region that focuses on family and community. We're delighted to be teaming up with them on this newest surprise,” said team president Alan Ledford.

Chihuahuas General Manager Brad Taylor added, “We are proud to work with a fun and creative group like GECU that has served so many El Pasoans for years and years.”
