Two credit unions have filled the spots left behind by their retiring longtime CEOs, including one that had to fill the seat for the first time in its 37-year history.
Paul Yang has been hired to succeed Charles Bumbarger, who is retiring after nearly four decades on the job at the $475 million University Credit Union in Los Angeles.

Yang had been president/CEO at the $127 million Premier Community Credit Union in Stockton, Calif., since 2009 and held executive positions at other credit unions in California and Colorado, as well as at high tech businesses.
Meanwhile, the $1.1 billion Army Aviation Center Federal Credit Union in Daleville, Ala., has hired Robert "Bobby" Michael as its new president/CEO, effective April 14, after nine years as the president/CEO of the $56 million CORE Credit Union in Statesboro, Ga.
Michael succeeds Jim Mitchell, who is retiring after 28 years at the Alabama institution. AACFCU was chartered in 1966 to provide low-cost financial services for the troops and their families stationed at Fort Rucker.
In other CEO news, the $391 million FedEx Employees Credit Association in Memphis, Tenn., named Tara Burton as its president/CEO after 15 years with the credit union, most recently as COO. She succeeds the retired Peggy St. John at the helm of the city's largest single-sponsor credit union.
And the $43 million Alamo Federal Credit Union named John Kirk, its COO, as interim CEO to replace Max Villaronga who left to become CEO of El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union in El Paso. Kirk joined Alamo FCU in 2011.

EAST
The $1.8 billion Citadel Federal Credit Union in Exton, Pa., appointed Tom Bailey as director of retail, Eastern Division. He has been with Citadel since 2005. Jeff Bean was appointed market manager of the West Chester branch. He has been with the credit union since 2004. Anthony Williams was appointed market manager for the Eagle branch after eight years with Citadel.
The $3.2 billion Visions Federal Credit Union in Endwell, N.Y., elected the following to serve three-year terms on its board of directors: George Bobinski Jr., Scott Hotalen and Kenneth H. Kidder III. Awards for five years of volunteer service were presented to Bobinski and Oliver Blaise for 10 years of volunteer service to Hotalen.
SOUTH
The $2.2 billion Atlanta Postal Credit Union promoted Jay White to vice president of card services and loss recovery. He joined APCU in 2001 as manager of collections. APCU also promoted Sharon Gardner to assistant vice president of branch operations. She has been with APCU since 1982, most recently as manager of the member services department.
MIDWEST
The $122 million Community West Credit Union in Kentwood, Mich., hired Kendra Craven as business development manager to work with indirect dealers. She has more than 30 years of credit union experience. Kathy Disher was hired as call center/dealer direct manager. She has 30 years of industry experience and is a CUNA-certified credit counselor.
CU*Answers in Grand Rapids, Mich., promoted Geoff Johnson to the newly created position of COO. He had served as executive vice president of client interactions at the CUSO since he was hired in 2005. The new position expands the current group of officers, which includes Randy Karnes, CEO; Bob Frizzle, CFO; and Jody Karnes, chief information officer.
WEST
The $943 million Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash., hired Doug Davis as vice president of lending sales. He has 13 years of industry experience, most recently as a territory retail lending manager for a national bank. Columbia CU also hired Ron Bertolucci as vice president of business lending. He has more than 30 years of industry experience, mostly recently as vice president/commercial business banker for a regional bank.
The $2.2 billion Texas Dow Employees Credit Union in Lake Jackson, Texas, named Andrew Wayman as its new vice president and chief technology officer. He has more than 14 years of experience in a variety of industries and environments, most recently as senior director of creative and user experience for NetSpend. TDECU also said Richard "Dick" Smith, a board member since 1996, was elected as the new board chairman to succeed Marcus Stephenson, who will stay on as a board member. Smith had been second vice chairman.
VENDORS
Clifford Rosenthal, former CEO of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, has left Consumer Financial Protection Bureau after nearly two years of heading its Office of Financial Empowerment. He has returned home to Brooklyn, N.Y., to launch a consulting career focused on access to credit and financial services for low-income and minority communities.
