Some 15,000 runners participated Sunday in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, and the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals were the big winners.

The hospitals received a donation of $487,000 from Credit Union Miracle Day, including $111,781 donated online by some 282 credit union members, runners, their families and friends. PSCU helped lead the effort again this year with matching donations and events leading up to the big donation.

Voted most popular DC race by readers of the Washingtonian, the 42^nd annual run was kicked off by Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell at the National Mall.

This year, for the first time, the run hosted both the USA Track & Field Men's and Women's Ten Mile Championships presented by America's Credit Unions.

Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia was the fastest female runner at 52:05. The top male runner was Stephen Sambu of Kenya at 45:29. The 2014 USA Women's 10 Mile Championship was won by Janet Bawcom of Flagstaff, Ariz., who crossed the finish line at 52:12, breaking her own record of 53:28 last year. Christo Landry of Ann Arbor, Mich., placed sixth overall in the men's competition with a time of 46:41 to win the 2014 USA Men's 10 Mile Championship title.

Meanwhile, in downtown Sacramento, Calif., over 2,000 runners, including more than 500 credit union participants, took part in the Third Annual Credit Union SacTown Ten-Mile Run.

Since becoming the title sponsors of races in 2002, Credit Union Miracle Day, a collaboration of 101 credit unions and 48 business partners and CUSOs, including lead partner PSCU, has donated over $6 million to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, under the umbrella of Credit Unions for Kids.

Another race, the Freedom Run at Wiesbaden Army Garrison in Germany, has been slated for April 12.
