The $4.2 billion Police and Fire Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia plans to convert to the Symitar Episys core processing platform from Jack Henry & Associates, the company and credit union said.

The 217,500-member PFFCU said it will run the system in-house and made its decision based on strategic growth needs and connectivity with JHA and third-party solutions.

"With a growing membership and more than $4 billion in assets, we are the largest credit union by far on our current core system. We had reached a point in our technology life cycle that we needed a core system that could seamlessly support our current requirements and ongoing growth,” President/CEO John LaRosa said in the announcement on Thursday.

San Diego-based Symitar now claims more than 800 credit union clients, including 88 of the 208 that exceed $1 billion in assets.

PFFCU currently runs on the Fiserv Advantage platform, according to data from Callahan & Associates.
