The $732 million Educational Systems Federal Credit Union in Greenbelt, Md., said Monday its longtime treasurer, Maurice Erly, 75, passed away on March 10.
Erly had been a member of the credit union for a half-century and joined its board in 1970, the credit union said in a statement. He was a former chairman who served as treasurer for the past 15 years.
“Having had the pleasure of serving with Maurice for over 40 years, he always brought great enthusiasm and vision to any discussion about how to better serve our members and develop our employees,” Rosemary Brinkley, chairman of the 88,000-member Educational Systems FCU, said in the statement. “We are truly saddened by the loss of a member of our credit union family.”
Erly was retired from the Prince George's County Board of Education, where he spent more than 25 years as coordinating supervisor of staff development, the credit union said.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia, three sons and six grandchildren.
