The NCUA's proposed risk-based capital rule is scheduled for publication on Thursday in the Federal Register, according to CUNA.

Once the proposed rule is published in the Federal Register, credit unions and other stakeholders can begin to submit comment letters.

The comment period for the risk-based rule, introduced at the agency's February board meeting, is set for 90 days. CUNA and NAFCU have been critical of the proposed rule. Many credit union CEOs have also expressed concerns about the proposal to Credit Union Times.

CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney called for public hearings on the plan. The NCUA later announced that NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz will hold three listening sessions on the rule this summer.
