"Due to the weather situation in the Washington, DC, area, most, if not all, of the NAFCU staff are out of the office today. NAFCU, however, continues to function, thanks to technology, remotely," said Irene E. Cardon, NAFCU's director of human resources and administration on Thursday. "NAFCU Staff will be monitoring email and voicemail throughout the day. Of course, members can continue access valuable resources from our website."
CUNA Vice President of Communications Pat Keefe said in a statement, "Like many on the East Coast today, and most of official Washington, CUNA's Washington offices are closed today. However, many of the staff remains available to its members and others through remote communications (email, telephone, etc.) and are continuing to provide services."
Keefe added that CUNA's offices in Madison, Wis. are open for business as usual.
The runways at both Dulles International and Reagan National Airports have been closed. By Thursday morning, Dulles International Airport had reported 13 inches of snow.
"Due to heavy snow/sleet accumulation and the presence of drifting snow all runways are closed at this time. No flights can takeoff or land at this time. The airport remains open," an update from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said on Thursday. "A full snow team is onsite and is working to clear the runways. We will update as conditions improve."
